Psalms 116:17
I will sacrifice a thanksgiving offering to you and call on the name of the Lord.

Psalm 116:17 (NIV)

Did you know that a simple action of gratitude could transform our lives and those around us?

Gratitude is like a superpower! It's all about appreciating the good things in life, big or small. When we practice gratitude, it can boost our mood, reduce stress, and even improve our physical health. It helps us focus on the positive, fostering a sense of contentment and fulfillment. Plus, expressing gratitude to others strengthens relationships and spreads joy. It's a simple but powerful practice that can bring so much goodness into our lives.

Psalm 116:17 (NIV) says, “I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord.” In this passage, the writer responds to all God has done. In his response, he doesn’t know how to repay to what God has done in His life. His answer is genuine, and a thanksgiving offering is what he has to offer.

Now, have you ever stopped to think of your prayers fueled by gratitude as a thanksgiving offering?

Of course, we can give our tithe, financially give to the needs around us, and serve with the talents and gifts we’ve been given, but a “thanksgiving offering” is a sweet sound to our Savior and costs us nothing but TIME. When we purpose our hearts to live thankfully and cultivate gratitude in our lives, it is a worthy response to the faithfulness of our loving Father.

Are you now ready for some action steps?

ACTION STEPS:

THINK:

  • Take a minute and meditate on Colossians 2:6–7 NIV

  • Overflowing means complete to the top and spilling over. How can you live full to the top and spill over with gratitude?

  • By expressing what you are thankful for to God and the people around you. What does a sacrifice of thanks look like for you?

ANSWER:

  • Grab your journal, notebook, or paper from yesterday and add to the list. Write out five things you’re grateful for, but let them be a sacrifice. Do not write the obvious ones, like your favorite people or things. Let’s indeed sacrifice a thank you. A sacrifice means it hurts a little (or a lot). Thank Him for the things that hurt a little (or a lot) today. Pray those back to Him, thanking and praising Him for them.

God loves when we are being genuine with our prayers, literellay telling him how we are feeling.

Wait patiently and be assured he has heard your prayers and the answer is on the way.

May God bless your day today, and don't forget to come back tomorrow for the day 3.
