I’ve learned over the years that the most potent weapon we will ever carry is the power of choice. I mean, literally. Suppose someone brings a bottle of poisonous water and explicitly tells you all the harmful effects. Will you drink it? You might be thinking now, “What a foolish question!”
I know, and I am not offended by it! You are absolutely right that nobody in their right mind would drink poisonous water. Although the poisonous water was in front of you, you used the power of choice weapon to shoot it down! Right there, you decided to live and not to die. The truth of the matter is that you can shoot every other poisonous thing that comes your way with the very same weapon: the power of choice. But the truth of the matter is, believe it or not, we continuously drink poisonous things in life that destroy our peace and emotional stability just because we refuse to use the most powerful weapon we’ve got: The power of choice.
George Eliot was right when he said, "The strongest principle of growth lies in human choice." He is absolutely right. It all depends on the choices we make. The difference between success and failure lies in the daily choices you and I make. At the end of the day, we reap what we sow – Galatians 6:7 – "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap." It is just the basic principle of life. Andy Stanley was right when he said: "I have participated in every bad decision I have ever made." Yes, I know how easy and tempting it is to blame someone else for our failures. The worst part is that when you make a bad choice, you hurt yourself, and when you blame others for your own bad decisions, you also hurt others. There is no win in the blame game.
This "blame game" came down for the Garden of Eden - Genesis 3. Adam blamed Eve and God, and Eve blamed the Serpent and God. At the end of the day, God, who had nothing to do with their failures, carried the blame. How sad! How tragic! Not owning our mistakes cripples us from growing, and we fail to recognize that we could choose better. Yes, I am serious! You can choose to do better today, right now! And the best part of it all is that God will help you make good choices – John 16:13. All you have to do is to ask Him – Proverbs 16:9 – "The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps." So, I am challenging you today to use your most powerful weapon: THE POWER OF CHOICE. Let's make good choices: happiness, success, service, love, positive thinking, excellence, peace… Let's choose abundant life
– Deuteronomy 30:19 – "I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore, choose life that you and your offspring may live."
